For ten years now, we’ve gathered on our piney playa to celebrate each other and our love for the community we build beyond the default world. We come in all our colors - from neon pinks to earthy oranges, we drip with jewel tones, sunlight, and shades of the forest. We are the colors of passion, life, growth, depth, and royalty. We are the children of the rainbow, and we know that it’s not about what’s on the other side of that rainbow or what’s waiting at its end, but about our journey through all the colors that we live every day. We have our palettes of pleasure, made of muted mauves and piquant purples; Our colorways of compassion, the blacks and blues of grief, the sepias of nostalgia, the verdant greens of renewal and the glittery golds of celebration. We plumb the pigments of the rich, raw earth, and create kaleidoscopic spectrums of colors we imagine only crawfish can see. We fly the flags of our nations, our communities, our identities – our colors declaring “us” amidst “them.” We are chameleons who understand that rainbows can take any scale, from the humble hues of cottagecore to the gregarious gradients of Lisa Frank. But when we choose Engulf, when we create the world we want to inhabit and paint it with OUR colors, we flip the default world on its head. We don’t just find what’s beyond the rainbow, we actively turn it upside down. And let all those colors drip down on us, bukkake style, while we dance in the flickers of firelight against our radiant bodies.
